Assessment

iProov is used by banks, government digital identity programs, healthcare providers, and travel operators that need to know a face on a screen belongs to a real person who is present right now. Customers include UBS, ING, Rabobank, NHS login, and programs in Singapore and Australia. It sells to large organizations by private quote, which puts it at the enterprise end of the price range, and its closest competitors are Facephi, Veriff, Sumsub, and Persona.

The company was founded in 2011 by Andrew Bud, who earlier built the messaging firm mBlox. Its Flashmark technology uses controlled illumination on the screen to confirm a live person and to resist photos, masks, and deepfake video, and a cloud security operations center updates defenses without customer changes. It has almost 200 employees and 27 granted patents. Its 2025 group accounts show turnover of about $46M.

It fits a buyer whose main risk is account takeover or fake sign-ups and that already has, or can add, document checks from another vendor. It is a weaker fit for a small fintech that wants one bundle of document checks, watchlist screening, and case management at a published price.

Rating by criterion

We score each of the eight criteria out of 100.

Sector criteria

Verification coverage86

iProov specializes in face verification and liveness for onboarding and returning users. It does not offer document checks, so many buyers pair it with a document vendor.

Fraud and risk signals90

Flashmark checks that a person is real, present, and authenticating now, and the iSOC updates defenses against new attacks such as deepfake video without customer-side updates.

Case management and workflow62

It is a verification service, not a case management suite, and the About page describes no analyst workflow or rules builder.

Regulatory fit92

ISO 30107-3 Level 1 and 2, eIDAS Level of Assurance high, FIDO face verification certification, NIST 800-63-4 conformance, and testing by UK, Singapore, and Australian governments.

Vendor criteria

Product depth and roadmap84

A single lightweight SDK needs no special hardware, and the company is moving to a multi-modal approach, though its scope is narrower than a full identity suite.

Onboarding and support72

Knab says the experience meets its customer experience bar, and support terms are set per customer contract.

Pricing transparency40

No prices are published, and a buyer needs a sales conversation to learn what a verification costs.

Contract terms66

Contracts are private enterprise agreements. Ask for liveness pricing at volume, support hours, and the update schedule in writing.

User comments

We read the customer quotes iProov publishes to see what buyers value, and set them against the main limit a buyer meets.

  • Upside

“Our customers really are everything to Knab. That’s why we chose iProov – like us, they are clear leaders in delivering the very best customer experience without compromising on the highest standards of security and compliance.”

Marcel Kalse, co-founder, Knab / iProov press release / retrieved October 29, 2026

  • Downside

“There is no public price list or free trial path described on the site, so a smaller buyer cannot easily compare iProov with self-serve identity vendors.”

Where customer reviews couldn't be found, our analysts attempted to give a voice to buyer sentiment, drawing on real information from review sites, forums and product documentation.

How this review was created

This profile gives our own assessment of iProov to companies selecting a KYC, AML & identity provider. The Fintech Index receives nothing for featuring a firm, for sponsorship, or for advertising, and iProov gave us no payment for the profile.

The rating equals the average of eight criteria, with every criterion running from 0 to 100. Four address buyer needs in this sector, and four address the company together with its commercial terms.

Ratings are our editorial judgment, made from public information: pricing and legal pages, product documentation, compliance disclosures, public reviews and filings. Fact-checking took place on October 29, 2026. Figures reported in pounds were converted to US dollars at the Federal Reserve H.10 rate of $1.3375 per pound on October 23, 2026.
