Assessment
Napier AI Continuum puts screening and monitoring in one configurable platform. Compliance teams write and test rules in a sandbox, screen clients and transactions against sanctions lists and lists of politically exposed persons (PEPs), monitor transactions with help from machine learning, and handle cases from a shared dashboard. Napier can run in the cloud or on the customer's own servers. It suits a compliance team that needs AML software whose decisions its analysts can explain.
Napier's group accounts at Companies House for the year ended 31 December 2024 reported about £21 million in total revenue, an 11% change on the year before. Customer stories on its site include Starling Bank, whose CTO Steve Newson described a six-week deployment, Banco do Brasil, which won an award from the research firm Celent with Napier for its sanctions operations, and Australia Post. Napier markets ISO 27001:2022 and SOC 2 Type 2 certifications.
Napier AI fits a regulated financial institution that owns or plans to buy watchlist data and wants monitoring, screening, and workflow together. It is a weaker fit for a startup that only needs passport and selfie verification, or for a team that wants published starter AML prices it can pay by card, as ComplyAdvantage offers.
Rating by criterion
Each of the eight criteria below is scored out of 100.
Sector criteria
Napier focuses on AML screening and monitoring and does not capture ID documents from a phone camera. Client screening and transaction screening run against sanctions lists and watchlists with fuzzy matching, which catches near-miss spellings of names. Its Perpetual Client Risk Assessment keeps reassessing each customer's risk for as long as they remain a customer, the ongoing part of know-your-customer (KYC) checks. Buyers that need to read ID documents and confirm a live person is present pair Napier with an identity vendor. Napier works with outside data vendors, so a customer can choose its own watchlist data.
Company materials say Napier uses machine learning alongside rules to cut false alarms and catch risk the rules miss. Sandbox testing lets non-technical users try rules on real data before go-live. Money-laundering reporting officers (MLROs) at payment and banking clients have said publicly that they use it to handle sudden surges in sanctions screening and to make daily screening faster. Napier does not focus on identity-fraud tools such as device graphs.
Continuum is modular and built around APIs. Product announcements describe two versions: Continuum Live, which Napier hosts, and Continuum Flow, which runs through the API without Napier's own interface. Case workflow, task automation, and a single dashboard are part of the core product. The choice of cloud or on-premise deployment helps banks with rules on where their data must be stored. Integration is scoped as an enterprise project.
Continuum is built for regulated AML programmes, covering screening, monitoring, decisions that leave an audit trail, and alignment with internal policy. Napier markets its AI as explainable, designed with regulators in mind, and leaving people in control of decisions. Its SOC 2 Type 2 and ISO 27001:2022 certifications help in a buyer's security review. Filing suspicious activity reports (SARs) still follows each institution's own regulatory process.
Vendor criteria
Product lines include transaction monitoring, client screening, transaction screening, and perpetual customer risk assessment. Napier's awards page for 2025-2026 lists recognition for AML monitoring and for PEP and sanctions screening, plus places on regulatory-technology (RegTech) industry lists. The company says its subscription includes product updates on a bi-annual cycle. Public bank customers and Celent case awards give its roadmap some credibility.
Napier's site promises every customer a dedicated customer success manager and a 24-hour support portal. Starling's CTO has said publicly that deployment took six weeks. Implementation runs as a project, with no self-serve signup, and professional services are scoped at the start.
As of 5 Oct 2026, Napier does not publish a self-serve rate card. Pricing is an enterprise subscription sold through demos and sales.
Terms are negotiated. Napier says the subscription includes ongoing platform updates at no extra licence fee, while professional services and data-vendor costs may be charged separately. Exit terms, data return, and on-premise support hours are set in the master services agreement.
