Assessment
Provenir carries out lending's decision step and links to the lender's origination system, leaving that system in place. Risk teams assemble flows inside a drag-and-drop studio and release models written in Python, R, SAS, PMML, Java, SparkML or TensorFlow with no rewrite. Data Marketplace covers more than 120 data partners through one API, and Equifax and TransUnion are among them. Decision Intelligence, launched February 13, 2026, added an AI assistant embedded in the platform and access to OpenAI and Anthropic models, private instances on AWS Bedrock included.
Provenir says configurable reason codes help US lenders set out the particular reasons for an adverse decision that the Equal Credit Opportunity Act requires. Provenir holds ISO 27001 certification, a SOC 2 Type II assessment is complete, and Provenir says the lender keeps responsibility for its decisions. Neither prices nor contract terms are published. Provenir says new use cases can reach production in as little as four weeks, and a 99.95% availability SLA is cited on the page for banks.
Scenarios
| Scenario | Suitability | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Credit decisions next to an origination system already in place | Well suited | Provenir links to the origination system and executes the decision logic. |
| Bringing in bureau and alternative data | Well suited | Sources in the marketplace connect through one API, and a strategy change can be simulated prior to release. |
| Fraud checks on applications and identity checks | Well suited | Decisions on fraud and identity use the same platform as decisions on credit. |
| Originating a loan from the application through closing | Not suited | Borrower application screens and closing tools are not described, so a separate origination system is required. |
Built for
Banks and specialty lenders where the risk team wants control of credit and fraud strategy inside a decision engine it can configure, with the origination system kept.
Less suited to
Lenders that want borrower applications and closing inside the same system as decisioning, or buyers that need published prices ahead of a sales call.
Who should consider it
Likely to suit
- Banks and credit unions that swap out a rules engine and keep the origination system they have
- Consumer and SME lenders whose model teams sit in house
- Lenders that operate credit programs across several countries
Unlikely to suit
- Lenders that want applications and closing together in one system
- Buyers that need the prices to be published
- Lenders that want fair lending testing included in the product
Rating by criterion
How the eight criteria that form the rating for Provenir are each scored out of 100.
Sector criteria
Runs alongside the loan origination system. Flagged applications go to case queues, and agents extract data from documents and compile credit memos, but no tools for a borrower application or for closing are described.
Rules and models execute in low-code flows using Python, R, SAS, PMML, Java, SparkML or TensorFlow and do not require a rewrite. Changes can be simulated before they ship, and AI agents send uncertain cases over to human review.
One API supplies more than 120 data partners, Equifax and TransUnion included. Cores and CRMs are connected through REST APIs, batch, or webhooks, and no connectors for any named core are listed.
Reason codes can be configured for adverse decisions under the Equal Credit Opportunity Act, workflows carry version control, and decisions are logged, alongside ISO 27001 and a SOC 2 Type II assessment. Nothing describes fair lending testing.
Vendor criteria
Onboarding, customer management, collections, and fraud decisions share one platform, and Decision Intelligence launched in February 2026. Provenir cites 120+ financial services providers spread over 60+ countries.
Urgent issues receive 24/7 follow-the-sun support, together with a ticketing portal, regional phone lines, and a public page for status that posts maintenance windows for each region.
No prices and no pricing model are published by Provenir.
The terms of a contract are not published. On the page for banks, the availability SLA cited is 99.95%, and Provenir supports contracts that cover data processing, subprocessors, incident notice, and audit rights.

How this rating was made
This profile gives our own assessment of Provenir to companies selecting a Lending & credit infrastructure provider. The Fintech Index receives nothing for featuring a firm, for sponsorship, or for advertising, and Provenir gave us no payment for the profile.
The rating equals the average of eight criteria, with every criterion running from 0 to 100. Four address buyer needs in this sector, and four address the company together with its commercial terms.
Ratings are our editorial judgment, made from public information: pricing and legal pages, product documentation, compliance disclosures, and filings. This profile had no lab tests, and no accounts were opened. Fact-checking took place on September 24, 2026.
