Assessment
Moneyfarm builds and runs a portfolio of exchange-traded funds for the saver, inside an ISA, a pension or a general account. Use it when the saver wants the investing done and is happy to pick from a fixed set of risk levels. A saver who wants to choose individual shares can use the do-it-yourself account, where each trade carries a fee.
The company started in Milan, Italy, in 2011 and is now based in London. Its UK investment firm is authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority under firm reference 629539, and the UK site reports more than 165,000 investors. M&G led a ~$55M round in 2022 with Poste Italiane taking part, and the group reported net revenues of ~$24M for 2024.
Moneyfarm fits a UK saver who wants a managed portfolio and an ISA or pension in one app. It is a weaker fit for an active trader, or for someone who wants funds from outside Moneyfarm's own portfolio range.
Rating by criterion
Each of the eight criteria below is scored out of 100.
Sector criteria
A saver can hold a managed ETF portfolio, or pick shares, ETFs and bonds in the do-it-yourself account, inside an ISA, a pension or a general account. Share trades cost ~$5 and bond trades ~$8, so the account suits occasional trades. Look elsewhere for options or crypto.
The app shows holdings, performance and the risk level of each portfolio, and the saver can set up regular payments. Ask what level of human guidance comes with the plan before moving a large pension.
Moneyfarm publishes no API for outside software. A saver who tracks money in another app should check how the data gets there before moving accounts.
MFM Investment Ltd is authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority (firm reference 629539), and eligible UK investments are covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme. A saver can check both on the public registers before transferring an ISA.
Vendor criteria
Managed and do-it-yourself investing, ISAs and pensions sit in one app. The group says it has been at break-even since July 2025, which matters to a saver choosing where to keep a pension for decades.
Accounts open in the app, and an ISA transfer can be started there. Check how long a pension transfer from an old provider takes, since that step depends on the sending firm.
Fees are on the pricing page. The published example for a ~$27,000 portfolio is a 0.45% management fee plus a 0.25% platform fee, ISA custody in the do-it-yourself account is 0.35% capped at ~$60 a year, and FX on foreign trades is 0.70%.
Underlying fund costs apply on top of Moneyfarm's own fee. Read the terms on transfer-out charges before moving a large ISA or pension.

How this review was created
This profile gives our own assessment of Moneyfarm to companies selecting a Wealth & brokerage platforms provider. The Fintech Index receives nothing for featuring a firm, for sponsorship, or for advertising, and Moneyfarm gave us no payment for the profile.
The rating equals the average of eight criteria, with every criterion running from 0 to 100. Four address buyer needs in this sector, and four address the company together with its commercial terms.
Ratings are our editorial judgment, made from public information: pricing and legal pages, product documentation, compliance disclosures, and filings. Fact-checking took place on October 21, 2026.
