Assessment

Seccl runs the back end of an investment platform. It holds client assets through its custodian, places trades, wraps accounts in ISAs, pensions and general investment accounts, and exposes all of it through an API and its own adviser and client portals. Use it when a firm wants a platform under its own brand and is willing to own the client experience.

Seccl was set up in Bath, England, in 2016 and has been owned by Octopus Group since 2019. It reported more than 1 million investors on its infrastructure in September 2026, double the figure of a year earlier, and its clients include Monzo, Tide and MoneySuperMarket. Seccl does not publish revenue for the whole business. Its regulated custodian, Seccl Custody Ltd, held ~$3.8B of client assets at 30 April 2025, and that entity's own accounts show turnover of ~$3.5M for the year to that date.

It fits an adviser firm, wealth business or fintech that wants control over its platform and a modern API. It is a weaker fit for a firm that wants a finished retail platform with no build work, or one that needs to publish its price before talking to sales.

Rating by criterion

Each of the eight criteria below is scored out of 100.

Sector criteria

Assets and account types80

Seccl runs the main UK wrappers itself: a flexible ISA, a Junior ISA, a self-invested personal pension with digital drawdown and a general investment account, including joint accounts. Offshore bonds and SSAS pensions come through partners. It is UK-focused, and its new Irish business is its first step into Europe.

Advisor and client tools76

Advisers get a portal for onboarding, transfers and model portfolios, and clients get a branded app or web view. Firms that want their own front end build it on the API instead.

Integrations and data84

Everything in the platform is available through a documented API, so firms can plug in their own apps, CRM and planning tools. Seccl says it starts more than 25,000 platform transfers a month, which suggests the transfer links are well used.

Custody and operations82

Seccl Custody Ltd is authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority (firm reference 793200) and holds client assets. Seccl reports processing more than 50 million transactions in 2026, so the operations are tested at scale. Ask how cash is held and which banks hold it.

Vendor criteria

Product depth and roadmap80

Recent work includes Monzo's investment migration, new propositions for Tide and MoneySuperMarket and the Irish launch. The pace of new clients is high, so ask how the roadmap is split between large brands and smaller adviser firms.

Onboarding and support72

Set-up is a project: the firm chooses its products, builds or configures the front end and migrates existing clients. Plan for a structured onboarding and check who manages client communications during a migration.

Pricing transparency60

Seccl does not publish its prices. Expect a quote based on assets and accounts, and ask for the custody fee, dealing costs and any minimum charge in writing.

Contract terms68

Contracts are negotiated. Ask about minimum terms, what happens to client assets if the contract ends, and how a bulk transfer away would work.

How this review was created

This profile gives our own assessment of Seccl to companies selecting a Wealth & brokerage platforms provider. The Fintech Index receives nothing for featuring a firm, for sponsorship, or for advertising, and Seccl gave us no payment for the profile.

The rating equals the average of eight criteria, with every criterion running from 0 to 100. Four address buyer needs in this sector, and four address the company together with its commercial terms.

Ratings are our editorial judgment, made from public information: pricing and legal pages, product documentation, compliance disclosures, and filings. Fact-checking took place on October 23, 2026.
