Operations at Octopus and in Technology
Before Seccl he spent six years as chief operating officer of Octopus Investments, part of the group that owns Seccl. Earlier he held senior operating jobs at fast-growing technology companies, including chief operating officer of Zoopla's software business and managing director of TripAdvisor's vacation rentals business.
From Secondment to Chief Executive
He first worked with Seccl on a secondment in 2024, helping grow its operations team, and became interim managing director in June 2025. Seccl ran an external search for the job but chose him. "We've been looking for a leader with strong operational focus," Ferguson said when the appointment was announced.
In September 2026 Seccl said its investor base had doubled to more than 1 million in under a year. Dees said the company had processed more than 50 million transactions that year, "at a rate of around 660,000 transactions per member of our operations team."
