Banking Career from IMI to Deutsche Bank
His banking career began at IMI Bank in 1993. He moved to Morgan Stanley as a vice president in 1998 and to Deutsche Bank as a managing director in 2001. From 2005 to 2008 he was chief executive of Sella Capital Management, an Italian asset manager.
Leaving Banking for Peer-to-Peer Lending
In 2008 he left banking to co-found Prestiamoci, an early Italian peer-to-peer lending service. "You are giving up a certain status, a certain recognition, a certain salary and so forth," he said on Jazz FM in 2017 of leaving a banking career to start a company. On the same programme he said investment products had been sold with fees that were too high: "the amounts of commissions and the way in which this product has been sold in the past were way too much compared to the market."
