Assessment

Statrys gives small companies a business account with balances in many currencies, local and SWIFT transfers and FX, without the long onboarding of a Hong Kong bank. It also sets up companies and handles accounting and company secretarial work. Use it when a small business registered in Hong Kong or Singapore needs to pay and get paid internationally.

Statrys was set up in Hong Kong in 2018 by Bertrand Théaud. It says more than 10,000 small businesses use it. It raised $5M from a single angel investor in 2020, holds a Money Service Operator licence in Hong Kong and a Major Payment Institution licence in Singapore, and has offices in Hong Kong, Singapore, Manchester, Paris and Bangkok.

It fits a small exporter, trader or consultancy that needs multi-currency payments. It is a weaker fit for a company that needs loans, deposit protection or a full banking relationship.

Rating by criterion

Each of the eight criteria below is scored out of 100.

Sector criteria

Accounts and money movement80

Accounts hold multiple currencies with local and SWIFT transfers, and Statrys has added IBANs in Germany, Luxembourg and Liechtenstein. Statrys is a licensed payment firm, not a bank, so balances are not covered by deposit protection.

Spend and cards70

Physical and virtual Mastercard cards come with limits, freezing and employee cards. Spend controls are simpler than at dedicated spend management tools.

Bookkeeping and admin tools74

Statrys also offers company formation, accounting and company secretarial services, which can put a small company's admin with one provider. Check the scope of the accounting service before relying on it.

Integrations and open banking68

Transactions, card payments included, sync to Xero. Integrations beyond accounting are limited.

Vendor criteria

Product depth and roadmap74

The product has grown from payments into a wider set of company services. Ask which features are live in Singapore as well as Hong Kong.

Onboarding and support76

Accounts are opened online, and Statrys offers support from real people, which it stresses for clients that find bank onboarding hard. Check document requirements for your company structure.

Pricing transparency84

Prices are published: the account has no monthly fee, FX starts at 0.1%, and SWIFT transfers cost ~$8 to ~$11 each. Check the full price list for your currencies.

Contract terms74

There is no lock-in on the account. Ask about fees for closing and moving balances out.

How this review was created

This profile gives our own assessment of Statrys to companies selecting a Business banking & treasury provider. The Fintech Index receives nothing for featuring a firm, for sponsorship, or for advertising, and Statrys gave us no payment for the profile.

The rating equals the average of eight criteria, with every criterion running from 0 to 100. Four address buyer needs in this sector, and four address the company together with its commercial terms.

Ratings are our editorial judgment, made from public information: pricing and legal pages, product documentation, compliance disclosures, and filings. Fact-checking took place on October 23, 2026.
