Assessment
ANNA gives a UK business a sort code and account number (plus IBAN for international receipts), expense cards, invoicing, receipt capture, and tools for VAT and Making Tax Digital, the UK tax authority's rules for filing tax returns through software. It suits an owner who wants the account and help with admin in one place, and it has a free plan that charges mainly for usage.
Absolutely No Nonsense Admin Ltd reported statutory turnover of £19,209,820 for the year ended 31 December 2024, in full accounts filed at Companies House on 19 November 2025 (company 10149389). Press coverage of its fundraising has cited higher annual recurring revenue figures.
ANNA fits UK micro-businesses and freelancers that want cheap or free entry pricing and built-in tax admin. It is a weaker fit for a larger firm that needs treasury across several companies or complex international payroll, or for an owner who wants a full bank. ANNA's account is e-money, protected under safeguarding rules, and is not covered by the FSCS, the UK's bank deposit guarantee.
Rating by criterion
Each of the eight criteria below is scored out of 100.
Sector criteria
Plans cover local transfers, CHAPS, SWIFT, Direct Debits, scheduled payments, and pots for setting money aside. The Free plan allows unlimited outgoing transfers with a 0.95% fee on incoming amounts above £1,000 a month. Paid plans charge a monthly fee that includes a set number of free transfers. For a business that receives a lot of money each month, the 0.95% fee on Free can cost more than a Grow or Business subscription.
The number of expense cards depends on the plan: one card on Free, more on Grow and Business, unlimited on Big Business. ANNA's marketing cites cashback of up to 40% on selected products and services. ATM fees differ by plan (free on Free; commissions on some paid tiers). Small teams get card controls and cards for several users.
What sets ANNA apart is admin: invoicing with QuickPay, photographing and categorising receipts, VAT filing from a spreadsheet (XLS) at £4.50 + VAT per filing on published pricing, Making Tax Digital filing for income tax self-assessment (ITSA), which the plan pages list as free, and Auto Accountant as an add-on (first four months free, then £29/mo on several plans). For a freelancer who hates bookkeeping, these tools are the main reason to choose ANNA over a basic account.
Pricing pages list accountant sharing and sync with accounting software such as Xero. Open-banking connections feed expense tracking. A firm that keeps its books in Xero or QuickBooks has to decide which tasks stay in ANNA after syncing, or VAT can end up handled in two places.
Vendor criteria
ANNA covers the account, cards, invoicing, and tax helpers, and its about page lists AI roles, including a Head of AI. Its strength is admin for very small businesses.
ANNA advertises sign-up in minutes and 24/7 email support at [email protected]. Its about page highlights a customer-experience team in Cardiff, Wales, and the pricing page shows live chat wait times. The site links to its Trustpilot reviews.
ANNA publishes a full plan table on https://anna.money/pricing/ with monthly fees, transfer bundles, card counts, and usage fees. That is strong transparency for the category.
Plans are monthly, and ANNA says a customer who does not use the account in a month does not pay that month’s fee. Usage fees still apply where relevant. Auto Accountant and some add-ons have their own ongoing charges after trials. The terms set out the cancellation and inactivity rules behind the “no fee if unused” promise.

Alex Kokovin
Boris Diakonov and Eduard Panteleev run ANNA as co-CEOs, with Andrey Pachay as chief technology officer and Alex Kokovin as chief operating officer.
Diakonov is a banking operator who co-founded ANNA after earlier banking ventures. ANNA’s about page says he has worked in banking since he was 21 and co-founded Bank24, a digital bank in Russia. ANNA is the business he and Panteleev built in the UK around business accounts that need little admin.
Panteleev is known for launching banking businesses with Diakonov, and ANNA’s about page says the two launched three successful banking businesses together. They built ANNA around the idea in its name, “absolutely no nonsense admin,” for UK small companies.
Pachay is responsible for infrastructure, technology, and security. Kokovin leads the business-account product. Andrew Doman is an independent director with a background at McKinsey and in financial services.
