Law and Investing in Asia
He studied at IAE Paris Sorbonne in France and was admitted to the Paris Bar, then spent about 20 years in Asia as a corporate lawyer, investor and entrepreneur. Advising small companies, and running his own, he saw how hard it was for them to open and keep bank accounts in Hong Kong.
Founding Statrys
He set up Statrys in July 2018 and soft-launched it in December 2019. "My background is not in banking, so the first few months I focused on finding people with the right expertise to help me with this ambitious project," he told Railsbank in 2020. That October Statrys raised $5M from a single angel investor to add local currency accounts, cards and accounting connections and to expand in Southeast Asia.
