Assessment
Sharesies is used by everyday investors in New Zealand and Australia, many of them starting with small amounts. It suits people who want to buy fractions of NZ, Australian, and US shares and ETFs, set up auto-invest, and hold managed funds and a KiwiSaver account in one app. It sits at the low end of the market on price for small orders, and its closest competitors are Hatch, Stake, Raiz Invest, and Lightyear.
Sharesies launched in 2017 and says it has more than 1 million investors and more than $6.8B in assets on the platform. It is an NZX accredited participant, and a related company issues the Sharesies KiwiSaver Scheme. A Series D of about $17M valued the company at about $428M.
It fits a beginner or regular investor in New Zealand or Australia who makes many small orders. It is a weaker fit for an active trader making large orders, or for a company or trust, which cannot use the monthly plans.

How this review was created
This profile gives our own assessment of Sharesies to companies selecting a Wealth & brokerage platforms provider. The Fintech Index receives nothing for featuring a firm, for sponsorship, or for advertising, and Sharesies gave us no payment for the profile.
The rating equals the average of eight criteria, with every criterion running from 0 to 100. Four address buyer needs in this sector, and four address the company together with its commercial terms.
