Fees for US business accounts at six fintech providers, September 2026

Deposit cover, currency conversion, plan fees and transfer fees for the US business accounts of six fintech providers, read from their own pages on September 24, 2026.

Fee check on business accounts, September 2026

Startups and small firms picking a business account tend to check the monthly plan fee before anything else. Wider gaps show up later in the fee list: the price of each wire, whether ACH payments draw down an allowance, and the sum added when a supplier is paid in another currency.

Those charges are scattered over pricing pages, fee schedules and account agreements, and several providers set paid-plan prices by the user or on request. Going through them one line at a time takes a while.

On September 24, 2026, for our business account fee check, we logged the published fees of the base plan at six providers from pages they operate. We then priced two worked examples that use identical activity at every provider: one domestic month, plus two payments to a supplier in euros.

Takeaways

  • Brex, Mercury, Ramp and Rho charge nothing for that domestic month: there is no plan fee, and no charge on the ACH payments, the domestic wires, or the wire abroad in US dollars.
  • Airwallex Explore totals $75.00, and every dollar of that is wire fees: $15 whenever a domestic wire is sent or received, and $15 on the wire sent abroad.
  • Revolut Business Basic totals $57.00: a $10 plan fee, $2.00 on the 10 ACH payments past the 10 that are free, $10 on each domestic wire in either direction, and $5 on the transfer abroad.

Takeaways

  • Airwallex shows the lowest published cost on the two euro payments, at $50.00, because of its 0.5% markup on major currencies.
  • Revolut Business Basic totals $64.00: 0.6% charged on the $9,000 past a free allowance of $1,000, and $5 on each of those two transfers abroad.
  • Mercury and Rho each add 1%, equal to $100.00 on the $10,000 that is converted.
  • Brex and Ramp publish no markup on payments to suppliers made in another currency, so this example cannot be priced for either. Brex says the rate includes a markup it chooses, and Ramp says a margin may be included.

RhoRho Business Checking: $0.00 a monthNo paid plans

Takeaways

  • A free base plan is offered by five of the six. Revolut Business has no free plan in the US, and Basic is $10 a month.
  • Paid plans follow three pricing patterns: a flat monthly fee at Mercury and Revolut Business, a per-user price at Airwallex, Brex and Ramp, and a price on request for the largest plans.
  • Rho sells a single plan and charges no monthly fee.

Takeaways

  • All six place customer funds at partner banks, with FDIC cover at the standard $250,000, where conditions apply. Mercury, Brex and Rho publish wider cover through bank networks, up to $5,000,000, $6,000,000 and $75,000,000, and separate conditions apply to each, while Ramp describes its wider cover and gives no figure.
  • Ramp and Rho alone publish a rate on balances that stay FDIC insured: 2.00% APY on Ramp Checking, and up to 1.00% APY on Rho Business Savings when the average balance is $25,000 or more.
  • Higher rates apply to funds that are not FDIC insured. At the entry tiers, Mercury Treasury shows net yields, up to 3.20% and 3.46%, on its two funds, Brex Treasury shows 3.51%, Rho Treasury shows 3.16% to 3.41% net, and Airwallex Yield shows 3.36%. Revolut Business pays no interest.

How the data was collected

Sources

On September 24, 2026 we opened pricing pages, fee schedules, account agreements and help articles for every provider and logged fees for the base plan, the cheapest plan an eligible US company can open. Each figure in the data file links to the page that supplied it.

Worked examples

The domestic month includes 20 standard ACH payments, 2 domestic wires sent, 2 domestic wires received and 1 wire abroad denominated in US dollars. The euro example converts two supplier payments of $5,000 each while markets are open. Optional charges, including cover for fees at the recipient bank, are omitted.

Allowances

If a plan includes free transfers or free currency exchange, the example applies that free portion first. On Basic, Revolut Business counts ACH transfers toward a monthly allowance of 10, and its agreement also counts incoming ACH, which this domestic month leaves out.

What is left out

Card fees and card currency markups, cash and check deposits, paid plans, custom pricing, and fees charged by other banks. Rates on idle cash move often and are shown as published, with the date given by each provider.

Limits

The figures are list prices taken from public pages. From October 12, 2026, Airwallex has announced that Explore will add $1 to $7 on each transfer abroad over local networks, which would raise its euro example after that date.
