Martin Sokk is co-founder and chief executive of Lightyear, the European retail brokerage. Before Lightyear he was Head of Product at Wise (formerly TransferWise). Before Wise he worked at Swedbank.
Lightyear launch
He and Mihkel Aamer started Lightyear after leaving Wise, aiming at commission-free multi-currency investing across European markets. The UK was the first market; Estonia followed as an early European launch, .
Team and investors
Sokk and Aamer were early Wise executives. Lightyear’s early team included hires from Wise, Revolut, Robinhood UK, and Pipedrive. Lightspeed led the Series A announced 14 July 2022.
Wise title
He was Head of Product at Wise before Lightyear. He started Lightyear off the back of building TransferWise and had worked at Swedbank before Wise.
