Assessment
Stripe covers the full online payments job from one account: card and wallet acceptance across 125+ methods of payment and 135+ currencies, subscription billing, Connect for marketplaces, Terminal for in-person sales, card issuing and Radar for fraud. Documentation, server SDKs in seven languages, sandboxes and a CLI make this the easiest in this group to build on.
On standard accounts, pricing is published in full: 2.9% + 30¢ on domestic cards, plus surcharges of 1.5% on international cards, 1% on currency conversion and 0.5% on manually entered cards, with neither a setup fee nor a monthly fee. Stripe continues adding products. It completed its acquisition of Metronome in January 2026, and in August 2026 it agreed to purchase OpenRouter. Larger businesses can get custom pricing on interchange-plus terms from sales.

How this rating was made
This profile gives our own assessment of Stripe to companies selecting a Payments & acquiring provider. The Fintech Index receives nothing for featuring a firm, for sponsorship, or for advertising, and Stripe gave us no payment for the profile.
The rating equals the average of eight criteria, with every criterion running from 0 to 100. Four address buyer needs in this sector, and four address the company together with its commercial terms.
Ratings are our editorial judgment, made from public information: pricing and legal pages, product documentation, compliance disclosures, and filings. This profile had no lab tests, and no accounts were opened. Fact-checking took place on September 23, 2026.
