Piret Loone is general counsel of Altruist. She came from Link Money, an open-banking company where she was general counsel and chief business officer and built the legal and compliance functions, the company's August 28, 2024 announcement says, and from Robinhood, where she was an assistant general counsel through the initial public offering. She is the first lawyer the company hired in-house.
The June 2024 appointment
The Los Angeles Times, in an executive awards profile, says she was appointed in June 2024 after 25 years of legal and executive work, and that she built the legal function from the ground up. The profile says the brief covers fundraising, product, human resources, corporate governance, and compliance, and that she manages a subsidiary and the compliance team. Citywire reported that she is based in the San Francisco area.
Degrees and earlier firms
The August 28, 2024 announcement also says she had held senior roles at a Fortune 500 asset manager and practiced at international law firms. It lists a J.D. from Harvard Law School, an M.A. in political science from Columbia University, and a B.A. in economics and political science from Franklin & Marshall College.
