Methodology
How we select companies, score them and keep reviews independent.
What we review
We review those fintech companies that businesses purchase from, in five categories. No company agreement is required for a review, and payment for a review is refused.
The Fintech Index Score
Each review rates eight criteria from 0 to 10. Four of them are specific to the category and measure outcomes that buyers in that category care about. The other four stay the same on every review: pricing transparency, contract terms, product depth and roadmap, and onboarding and support. Averaging the eight produces the Overall Score.
Evidence
Scores come from an editorial reading of what is public: press releases, filings, compliance disclosures, the company's documentation, and pricing and legal pages. No lab tests are run and no accounts are opened. Each review names its sources and when the facts were checked.
Recommendation labels
Recommend means the company fits most of the buyers in its category. Conditional recommend means some buyers are well served, and the review names which ones. Not recommended means we would direct most buyers elsewhere.
Independence
Sponsored ranking, advertising or paid placement is not offered. If a material tie links an analyst to a company, we do not promote that company.
Updates
Companies see their products and prices change. Reviews carry the check date for their facts, and corrections follow when a source changes.
